Accident on 19th April 2006!

Dear Baby,

Mummy been wanting to update this blog for days. Just to tell you the nice things we did like having dinner with Aunty Lina, twins and her husband on Saturday, about Mummy disciplining a boy in a secondary school and so on. But an accident happened yesterday. Most of the time Mummy tried to tell only nice and wonderful things which happened during my pregnancy. But today is slightly different. It will be a bit unpleasant. Alhamdulillah you are fine and mummy was not in shocked to protect you from being squashed. This is what happened...

Mummy went to Choa Chu Kang Central alone to run some errands. After late dinner at Long John Silver and buying some stuff, Mummy decided to take a cab. Mummy having sprained wrist on both hands for about 2 weeks now. So Mummy could not carry heavy things. I took a Comfort cab around 4.50pm. When I board the cab, the taxi driver asked me where am going and I told him Choa Chu Kang Crescent. He did not start driving immediately. He paused. I was wondering what was wrong. I checked the metre it was on. He started driving very slowly. From my judgement he was driving at about 40km/h or slower. When I was about to check his speed, I notice something perculiar about his leg. I stare at it. I notice his sitting position is also very weird. For a few minutes I thought he was handicapped. And I thought it was nice of Comfort cab to allow handicap people to drive a cab. Still not satisfied, I peeped again. I noticed his left leg was on the accelerator and both his knees was leaning against the door. His body is also leaning against the door. He still drives very slowly even when we are on the main road. After he passed the condominium near the interchange, he took the left lane. When we are approaching Yew Tee MRT he asked which side of Choa Chu Kang Crescent. It shows he knows Choa Chu Kang area well. Not many taxi drivers know that there are 2 sides of CCK Crescent. He still drives very slowly and I instruct him to turn right to go the entrance of the car park. When he was turning, I saw there was another car at the lift lobby. I wanted to tell him to turn left when he goes to the carpark entrance. When I was about to tell him, I saw a car stopped and give it a horn at about 6 metres away. The taxi was driving very slowly and I believe he would have time to stop. I noticed the taxi is not stopping, I told him to be careful and I hold the front seat and the back seat, and my legs was wide apart towards the front seat. This is to protect my tummy from being hit.

Bang!!! The taxi hit the car. The blur taxi driver gave a remark "He can't see ahhh".. I was shocked. The taxi driver could have stopped and save all the trouble. The car driver left the car and checked what was damaged. The car driver signal to the taxi driver to move to the opposite carpark as there is no way the taxi can enter our house carpark. The grey car saw the whole incident. While the taxi was driving very slowly towards the opposite carpark, I saw a huge oncoming vehicle. If I was not wrong it was a bus. I was worried. The bus is coming and yet the taxi driver is driving very slowly. Taxi stopped at the opposite carpark and after I paid him, I quickly get out of the taxi. I wanted to rush home to see if there is any spotting. My tummy feels painful immediately after the collision. When I was out of the cab I exchanged numbers with the car driver. We agreed to call each other if there is anything wrong.

At home I quickly check if there is any spotting. I was relieved there wasn't any. I tried to forget about the pain. I transfer my laundry to the dryer and sat down. I called my gyne but it was already 5.15pm . I sms daddy to tell him that I am at home. I called my sister to tell her what happened and asking if the baby going to be ok. She said if the pain subside it should be ok. I decided to see a family doctor at Limbang. I rest for 10mins. While resting I talked to you saying that everything is going to be ok. I tried the heart listener to listen to your heart beat. But seems like your heartbeat is beating very slow. I quickly call the doctor at Limbang but no one answered. I left our home at about 5.30pm hoping that the clinic will open at 6.30pm.

When I about to leave home, I sms daddy saying that I am going out again. While I was on the bus daddy called me. Daddy was curious why do I need to go out again. I told am going to Limbang to see the doctor. He asked me why I didn't go to the doctor earlier during the day. I explained to him it is not about my sprained wrist but because of the accident between a car and a cab. Daddy immediately asked me if you are ok. I told him not to worry. I will check with the doctor about the pain in my tummy area. I told I will update him soon. When I reached Limbang, I was disappointed that the clinic opens at 7pm. I went to the nearest Mc Donald for a drink. While sitting down, I notice my butt feel very cold as if I am not wearing any pants. I touch my butt but could not find any holes. I quickly went to the toilet. I found out there was a big tear at my butt area. Maybe due to the accident, when I was protecting my tummy, I almost slide off from the seat. I refrain from falling down by using my leg as a support. I quickly go to a cheap garment store to buy pants or a skirt. Alhamdulillah I found a long skirt that can fits me. I immediately wear it and buy it.

After buying the skirt I went to the clinic again and sat infront of the clinic. Daddy called me asking where am I. I told him I am still at Limbang and he need not worry and do not need to leave his work. Daddy insist on coming and he wants to be by my side. After that tears rolling down my cheek because I am worry about your safety. The pain at my abdomen area subside by my left tummy feel a bit numb. Daddy came and he touched my tummy. Finally the clinic opens and went to see the doctor for check up.

The doctor pressed my tummy and listen to your heartbeat. He said the baby is fine. The pain I am experiencing is just a muscle stretch while I was trying to refrain from my tummy being hit. I was relieved I did not wear the seat belt because my baby could have been squashed. I will do anything to protect my baby. I am glad that my reflex is very fast. I am able to think fast before the taxi hits the car.

Alhamdullilah everything was fine.

Regards
Mummy
